Essinge IK

Essinge IK was one of 421 clubs from Sweden that had teams playing during Gothia Cup 2017. They participated with one team in Boys 16. In addition to Essinge IK, 179 other teams from 34 different countries played in Boys 16. They were divided into 44 different groups, whereof Essinge IK could be found in Group 12 together with V. Frölunda IF, Assega Sport Academy and Blackburn Celtic Youth. Essinge IK continued to Play off B after reaching 3:rd place in Group 12. In the playoff they made it to 1/32 Final, but lost it against F.C. Beirut with 1-3. In the Final, Phoenix Football Academy won over IK Zenith and became the winner of Play off B in Boys 16. Essinge comes from Stockholm which lies approximately 390 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place. The area around Stockholm does also provide 60 additional clubs participating during Gothia Cup 2017 (Among others: Hanvikens SK, Enskede IK, Hammarby IF FF, Bollstanäs SK, Danderyds SK, Älta IF, Enebybergs IF, Ekerö IK, Huddinge IF and Ingarö IF).
