Assega Sport Academy

Assega Sport Academy was the only club from Ethiopia that had teams playing during Gothia Cup 2017. They participated with one team in Boys 16. In addition to Assega Sport Academy, 179 other teams from 33 different countries played in Boys 16. They were divided into 44 different groups, whereof Assega Sport Academy could be found in Group 12 together with V. Frölunda IF, Essinge IK and Blackburn Celtic Youth. Assega Sport Academy continued to Play off B after reaching 4:th place in Group 12. In the playoff they made it to 1/64 Final, but lost it against Kvarnsvedens IK with 2-3. In the Final, Phoenix Football Academy won over IK Zenith and became the winner of Play off B in Boys 16. Assega Sport Academy comes from Addis Ababa which lies approximately 5900 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place.
