Rio FC was one of 18 clubs from Brazil that had teams playing during Gothia Cup 2013. They participated with one team in Boys 18. In addition to Rio FC, 134 other teams from 27 different countries played in Boys 18. They were divided into 33 different groups, whereof Rio FC could be found in Group 21 together with Csv de Leeuwarder Zwaluwen, Strands IF and Färgelanda IF. Rio FC continued to Play off B after reaching 3:rd place in Group 21. In the playoff they made it to 1/32 Final, but lost it against SV Eintracht Gommern with 1-5. In the Final, Örgryte IS won over FC Rueil Malmaison and became the winner of Play off B in Boys 18. Rio FC also participated in Boys 18 during Gothia Cup 2012. They reached the 1/32 Final in B18 Slutspel B, but lost it against Ekerö IK with 1-5. Rio FC comes from Rio de Janeiro which lies approximately 10000 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place. Other than Rio FC, the club Karanba does also originate from the area around Rio de Janeiro.
