Rio FC was one of 25 clubs from Brazil that had teams playing during Gothia Cup 2012. They participated with one team in Boys 18. In addition to Rio FC, 147 other teams from 33 different countries played in Boys 18. They were divided into 36 different groups, whereof Rio FC could be found in Group 30 together with Fyllingsdalen FK, Carlstad United and KF Prizren Spor. Rio FC continued to Slutspel B after reaching 3:rd place in Group 30. In the playoff they made it to 1/32 Final, but lost it against Ekerö IK with 1-5. In the Final, Corsa FC 1 won over C.B./Oeste Solidaria and became the winner of Slutspel B in Boys 18. Rio FC comes from CEP -913 Sao Paulo which lies approximately 11000 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place. The area around CEP -913 Sao Paulo does also provide 22 additional clubs participating during Gothia Cup 2012 (Among others: Esporte Uniao, Monte Libano, Space/Ordin, Space/Amoritas, Hipica Campinas, InterClubes, Club da Turma, Futebol Futuro, Clube Campo Belo and Space/Resenha Paulista).
