Ekerö IK was one of 400 clubs from Sweden that had teams playing during Gothia Cup 2022. They participated with one team in Boys 17. In addition to Ekerö IK, 84 other teams from 20 different countries played in Boys 17. They were divided into 20 different groups, whereof Ekerö IK could be found in Group 14 together with TSV Altenholz, Aurskog-Finstadbru SK, IK Sirius FK and Furulunds IK. Ekerö IK continued to Play off B after reaching 5:th place in Group 14. In the playoff they made it to 1/16 Final, but lost it against Norrtulls SK 2 with 3-5. In the Final, Groß Flottbek won over Altona 93 and became the winner of Play off B in Boys 17. Ekerö comes from Ekerö which lies approximately 380 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place. The area around Ekerö does also provide 67 additional clubs participating during Gothia Cup 2022 (Among others: Maj FC, EKF Täby, Sickla IF, FC Djursholm, Tyresö FF, Pershagens SK, Enskede IK, Djurgårdens IF, Skogås/Trångsunds FF and Hanvikens SK).
