The Rainbow Team

The Rainbow Team was one of five clubs from South Africa that had teams playing during Gothia Cup 2022. They participated with one team in Girls 16. In addition to The Rainbow Team, 82 other teams from 8 different countries played in Girls 16. They were divided into 20 different groups, whereof The Rainbow Team could be found in Group 13 together with Älvsjö AIK FF, Västanfors IF and Habo IF. The Rainbow Team continued to Play off A after reaching 1:st place in Group 13. In the playoff they made it to 1/16 Final, but lost it against FC New England with 0-1. In the Final, Arna-Bjørnar won over Lillestrøm SK and became the winner of Play off A in Girls 16. The Rainbow Team comes from Cape Town which lies approximately 10000 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place. Other than The Rainbow Team, the club Project Playground FC does also originate from the area around Cape Town.
