Smedby AIS

Smedby AIS was one of 400 clubs from Sweden that had teams playing during Gothia Cup 2022. They participated with one team in Girls 16. In addition to Smedby AIS, 82 other teams from 9 different countries played in Girls 16. They were divided into 20 different groups, whereof Smedby AIS could be found in Group 18 together with Steel Soccer PA, Skövde Kvinnliga IK and Stureby SK. Smedby AIS continued to Play off A after reaching 1:st place in Group 18. In the playoff they made it to Semi final, but lost it against Arna-Bjørnar with 0-4. In the Final, Arna-Bjørnar won over Lillestrøm SK and became the winner of Play off A in Girls 16. Smedby AIS comes from Norrköping which lies approximately 270 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place. The area around Norrköping does also provide four additional clubs participating during Gothia Cup 2022 (Eneby BK, IK Sleipner, IFK Norrköping and Linköpings FC).
