Academy of Baghdad

Academy of Baghdad was one of two clubs from Jordan that had teams playing during Gothia Cup 2017. They participated with one team in Boys 16. In addition to Academy of Baghdad, 179 other teams from 33 different countries played in Boys 16. They were divided into 44 different groups, whereof Academy of Baghdad could be found in Group 17 together with Lindome GIF, Swindon Town FITC 2 and Skiljebo SK. Academy of Baghdad continued to Play off B after reaching 4:th place in Group 17. In the playoff they made it to 1/64 Final, but lost it against Sunnersta AIF with 0-1. In the Final, Phoenix Football Academy won over IK Zenith and became the winner of Play off B in Boys 16. Academy of Baghdad comes from Amman-Khalid bin Alwalid St which lies approximately 3400 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place. Other than Academy of Baghdad, the club Amman Football Academy does also originate from the area around Amman-Khalid bin Alwalid St.
