In addition to Askims IK, 36 other teams from 11 different countries played in Girls 12. They were divided into 9 different groups, whereof Askims IK could be found in Group 7 together with KFV Segeberg 1, Saltsjö-Boo IF and FC Connecticut. Askims IK made it to Play off B after reaching 3:rd place in Group 7. Once in the playoff they won every match inluding the Final against Åsa IF, which they won with 1-0. Thereby Askims IK won the entire Play off B in Girls 12 during Gothia Cup 2016.
